MANEATER REVIEW: TERROR OF THE HIGH SEAS

Tripwire’s Maneater is one of the most fun and unique games I’ve played recently. Starring a shark, players grow from a tiny pup to a gigantic, mutated monstrosity determined to avenge its mother’s death. Scaly Joe, a big-time shark hunter, is the main antagonist of the game, but there are all kinds of enemies to deal with in your underwater travels. To survive their quest, all kinds of mutations are available for players to choose from as they evolve into a one of a kind aquatic death machine. If you want your shark to have scaly hide like a gator or croc, can do. If you want sonar on par with a dolphin, no problem. Your shark is yours to mold into the best version you can make.

There are a multitude of areas to explore, each with their own distinct wildlife and challenges. Sewers, swamps, and the ocean are just a few examples of the aquatic lairs you’ll explore. As an added bonus, a narrator chronicles the whole adventure, much like an Animal Planet documentary, which just adds another humorous wrinkle to the game. If you love sharks, or are just looking for an absolute riot of a time, definitely check out Maneater.
