TELLTALE GAMES 2.0

TELLTALE GAMES 2.0

Today it was announced that Telltale Games is being resurrected under new leadership. To be clear, this is from outside the original group of people involved with Telltale. LCG Entertainment has bought the rights to the Telltale name and its various IP’s, but the original developers and key staff are not involved. Some original workers will be offered freelance roles with the possibility of full-time positions in the future. Jamie Ottilie and Brian Waddle will head the new Telltale, which will be based in Malibu, California. Some of the back catalogue of IP’s will be sold, while others will be continued. In an interview with Polygon, it was disclosed that Telltale still owns the rights to The Wolf Among Us and Batman. In addition to the IP’s that they already own, they will also be looking to acquire more licenses. Some notable licenses that they no longer are own are The Walking Dead, which is now owned by Skybound, and Stranger Things, which reverted back to Netflix. The leaders of the new Telltale are well versed in the downfall of the original, and intend to avoid making the same managerial mistakes that their predecessors did.

MY THOUGHTS

The announcement that Telltale is coming back is a huge surprise, but is excellent news. While expectations should be tempered at first, new leadership and staff’s awareness of previous administration mistakes is a great start. Hopefully this means that we can finally get resolution to that The Wolf Among Us cliffhanger ending.
