PLAYSTATION TO POSSIBLY ACQUIRE MORE STUDIOS

PlayStation President, Jim Ryan, said recently that the company was looking into acquiring more studios before they launch the PlayStation 5. This is very notable, as PlayStation hasn’t acquired a studio in several years. Microsoft has been extremely aggressive in the past year, having added nine studios to its First Party lineup. A staggering number that leaves them with fifteen studios currently, and buzz that they are still actively looking to acquire more studios. Sony has spent this console generation comfortably in first place, so there was frankly no need for drastic measures to be taken up to this point. But, with Microsoft in an all-out blitz for next gen, Sony knows they can’t just sit idle anymore. One can’t just expect their current success to carry over to the next and generation. That was Microsoft’s blunder at the start of this console generation, and they paid dearly for it.
