PLAYSTATION STATE OF PLAY: RECAP
The latest PlayStation State of Play was a quality showcase, that packed a respectable amount of content into thirty minutes. The director did a great job of keeping a brisk pace so it didn’t drag on, but also allowing each item to get its fair share of time. New games were revealed, some highly anticipated titles were given updates, a bundle was announced, some games coming to PS + in October, and trailers were shown.
HUMANITY
Humanity, by Enhance and THA LTD, opened the show. It is a puzzle platformer, where the player controls large crowds of people, using them to reach destinations, and accomplish objectives. The game releases in 2020.
MODERN WARFARE
Activision’s Call of Duty: Modern Warfare reboot had a lengthy new story trailer showcased. Along with the intense and graphically impressive cinematic trailer, the PS4 timed exclusive (until October 1st, 2020) Special Ops Survival Mode was given a gameplay trailer.
WATTAM
Wattam, a quirky and colorful game, was revealed next. Wattam is made by the creator of the eccentric and popular Katamari series.
ARISE
Arise – A Simple Story was revealed next on the show. This beautifully simplistic, yet artful title focuses on a tribal warrior and his journey.
PS VR TITLES
A slew of new titles coming to PlayStation VR were announced on the show:

- Space Channel 5 VR Kinda Funky News Flash! – Fall 2019
MEDiEVIL REMAKE
The MediEvil remake was given a new gameplay trailer, and announced that a demo for the game is now available. Players who try the demo can earn a helmet for use in the main game, when it launches this October.
CIVILIZATION VI
For the first time ever, Sid Meier’s Civilization is coming to a PlayStation console. Civilization VI will launch November 22nd, with subsequent expansions available with a separate purchase.
DEATH STRANDING BUNDLE
To coincide with the launch of Hideo Kojima’s Death Stranding, Sony is releasing a custom Death Stranding PS4 Pro bundle, available November 8th.
AFTERPARTY
The Hellish drinking comedy, Afterparty, had a brief segment. This title is made by Night School, the creators of the indie darling, Oxenfree.
PS+ TITLES
PlayStation revealed October’s free games for PS+ subscribers, a pairing that featured two heavy hitters. MLB The Show19 and The Last of Us Remastered will be free to subscribers this October, just in time to keep The Last of Us Part II hype train rolling.
THE LAST OF US PART II
To close the show, they revealed a hauntingly beautiful new story trailer for The Last of Us Part II. This trailer featured Ellie, who is on a quest for vengeance. This highly anticipated sequel will arrive February 21, 2020.
