ORI & THE WILL OF THE WISPS REVIEW
As I wrote about here https://pixelowl.net/ori-revisited/ , Ori & The Blind Forests: Definitive Edition is one of the best games of the generation. Its sequel, Ori & The Will of the Wisps, is even greater! It takes everything I loved about the first game, cranks it up to an eleven, and adds a plethora of other features and innovations. Where the Blind Forest was a fairly traditional Metroidvania style game, albeit with beautiful visuals, haunting soundtrack, and heartful story, Will of the Wisps adds RPG elements and much more customization. Side quests, numerous collectibles, powerups, time trials, tests of combat prowess, etc. are added to bring a real depth to the game’s core. While there are still several chase sequences where timing and button preciseness are necessary, boss fights are a big standout of the sequel. Among the ensembles of bosses are a giant wolf, spider, owl, and worm. Each boss showdown is different, requiring a unique approach for a given encounter. Where a bow might be effective for one boss, an up close and personal approach would be better suited for another. By the time you finish the story, you will be left awestruck by the emotions of what you experienced. Simply put, Will of the Wisps is a must play, and an absolute homerun exclusive for Xbox. Moon Studios demonstrates their magic touch again!
