GODZILLA: KING OF THE MONSTERS REVIEW

GODZILLA: KING OF THE MONSTERS REVIEW

Godzilla: King of the Monsters is an awesome movie. This is the monster mash of gigantic creatures that longtime Godzilla fans have always wanted. (Hearing the iconic Godzilla theme music during the climatic final battle is epic.) Godzilla, King Ghidora, Mothra, Rodan, and others are all here to duke it out for control of the Earth. Theses clashes of the Titans take place on several continents across the globe, with Washington D.C., Antarctica, Boston, and others being featured as sites of monster mayhem. While humanity featured more prominently in the previous Godzilla film, this movie returns the spotlight to Godzilla and his fellow Titans. Humanity, of course has a role to play in the movie, helping spur into motion a chain of events that change the course of the planet’s fate.

I won’t go to heavily into the movie’s plot, because of major spoilers, but human decision making sets up these massive monster fights. Godzilla resumes his role as guardian of humanity, and must defeat King Ghidora to restore balance. By the end of the film, the Earth is greatly changed. At film’s conclusion, the stage is set for Godzilla’s next fight, a battle of kings, with King Kong. Also, watch through the end credits to see a tease of something dark yet to come. (Like the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Warner Bros. has set up a cinematic universe for its massive monsters, containing interconnected stories from Godzilla, King Kong, and others.)
