THE OFFICE LEAVES NETFLIX IN 2021

     In a shocking development, Netflix announced that The Office, the pop culture, and meme spawning phenomenon, would be leaving the streaming service. The decision was not Netflix’s, but NBC’s, the media company who owns the franchise. The Office sits on top of the chart numbers at Netflix, a whole 20+ million ahead of second place Friends, so it comes as no surprise that the decision to pull it from the program was not theirs. NBC plans to use The Office as a marque focal point of their own streaming service, launching in 2021. Streaming services have become the current trend, with Netflix no longer the only option for consumers. Hulu, Disney+, NBC’s streaming service, and others are significant draws for viewers, as well.
